With the holidays approaching we thought we’d give our two sense on practical gifts to get the new homeowners in your life!
1) Tool Set
Whether the new homeowner in your life is handy or not, every homeowner needs a set of tools! Even the least handy of us all will learn a few tricks when they become a homeowner.
2) A vacuum
This a necessity in a home! However, many people don’t think about it when buying a home and it can be a pricey surprise expense!

3) A Nest
The nest is a smart thermostat that can connect to your phone and tell if you are home or away. When you are away it will turn to the “eco” mode so the home isn’t working to heat or cool while you’re away! They can save you lots of money, AND if you look into which energy company the homeowner uses, the company will sometimes give you discounts for having one!
4) Your labor!
If they haven’t moved already, you can offer to help them move their furniture, or babysit the kids while they move! If they have, you could offer to help with any home fix-ups – painting, changing locks, hanging pictures, etc!

5) Outside maintenance tools i.e. rakes, shovels, a lawn mower, etc.
While this gift may not excite the new homeowner in your life now, they will sure thank you when their car gets stuck in the snow in their driveway and they have a shovel to help them out!
6) Waterproof & Fireproof SafeTo ensure their valuables have a safe place in their home!

7) For the Techie: an Amazon Echo/Google Home
These can do a little bit of everything, from filling the home with music to turning off your lights on your command. They are great gifts for the tech lovers in your life.
8) A list of your favorite contractors/a gift card!
It’s nice to have a list of contractors from someone you trust, so you can trust your contractor too! You also never know when you’ll need some additional help, so having a list handy is always a plus. Lastly, it’s always nice to have help with home expenses.

9) For the cook: A grill
Minnesotans love to take advantage of the warm weather and cook outside in the summer! It’s a great addition to any household, plus, it makes excellent food!
10) Home Depot Gift Card
As a homeowner, you will find yourself spending a lot more time here than you ever have before! (And a lot more money, too!)
We hope the new home owners in your life enjoy these! Do YOU agree with these 10 gifts, what else would be a great gift for a new homeowner? Let us know what you think!
